Excavation & Backfilling RAW
Earthwork in excavation and back-filling of soil up to required depth is required for construction of foundation and trenches. The proper sequence of excavation and back-filling is required to optimize the process and prevent safety issues. Excavation and back-filling of soil is a very important part of construction process, and care must be taken while excavation in safety perspective. Different soil layers may be encountered while excavation, de-watering may be needed sometimes. These points must be kept in mind to take necessary action during excavation and back-filling. Correct measurement of excavation and back filling is required because excavation cost is major part of the foundation construction.
  • Maintaining Supplies
  • Reading & Interpreting blueprints and Schematics
  • Assembling & Installing
  • Inspecting supplies

Quality checks for Excavation

1. Record initial level and check size of bottom
2. Disposal of unsuitable material for filling
3. Stacking suitable material for backfilling to avoid double handling
4. OSCE Classification approval by competent authority
5. Dressing bottom and sides of pits as per drawing with respect to centerline
6. Necessary safety measures observed

  • Recorded Initial Ground Level
  • Sample is approved for backfilling
  • Necessary marking/reference points are establisher for final level of backfilling
  • Backfilling is being carried out in layers (15cm to 20cm)

Scope of Work

1. Setting out of corner benchmarks
2. Survey for ground levels
3. Survey for top levels
4. Excavation to approved depth
5. Dressing of loose soil
6. Making up to cut off level
7. Constructing de-watering wells and interconnecting trenches
8. Marking boundaries of the building
9. Constructing protection bunds and drains
